Boxing Bantam Weight - 56 kg

The basics of boxing at London Olympics

The Olympic Boxing competition will feature 10 men’s weight categories, from Light Fly Weight (46-49kg) to Super Heavy Weight (over 91kg). Women’s Boxing will feature as a full Olympic medal event for the first time, with medals in three weights: Fly Weight (48-51kg), Light Weight (57-60kg) and Middle Weight (69-75kg).

Men’s bouts take place over three rounds of three minutes each; women’s bouts are four rounds of two minutes each. Boxers score points for every punch they land successfully on their opponent’s head or upper body.

If a boxer is knocked to the ground and fails to get up within a count of 10 from the referee, the bout is over. Bouts can also be won or lost due to retirement or disqualification. A referee can also decide to stop the fight at any point if they think a boxer is unfit to continue.

HMS Ocean in London to Help London 2012 Olympics

18.7.2012
_______________
HMS Ocean in London

_______________

The Royal Navy's largest warship has moored on the Thames at Greenwich in preparation for its role as a helicopter landing pad during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

On the ship, 150 of the ship's crew recreated the Olympic Rings on the ship's deck after reaching London. The crew members wore uniforms in the colours of the rings while making the formation.

The arrival of HMS Ocean marks the start of the arrival of numerous ships, which are coming to London to host tourists, spectators and security forces.

Cruise ship Deutschland will arrive into West India Dock on 24 July, ready to accommodate guests of the German Olympic Sports Confederation during London 2012. The ship, which had a trial run into West India Dock last July, is the largest vessel ever to enter the dock.

"In these three weeks running up to the Games we are going to see masses of activity on the river as people get vessels in place ahead of the opening ceremony," says Port of London Authority Chief Executive, Richard Everitt.

Gareth Stephens of West India Docks' owners, Canal & River Trust, added: "By 27 July you'll see cruise ships, super yachts and large sailing ships here on the doorstep of London's new financial district, and close by the centre of London 2012 Games activity. This year the docks are truly coming back to life."

The tourists to London and Olympics will have a wide choice.
